Conservation Partners
Who We Are
The Green Bay Conservation Partners was created in 2014 as a self-sustaining regional conservation partnership to facilitate coordinated conservation in the northeast Wisconsin region of the Green Bay watershed. The partnership consists of individuals working on natural resource issues for government agencies, tribal nations, universities, nonprofit groups and others. Amy Carrozzino-Lyon, Co-Chair. University of Wisconsin-Green Bay

Amy Carrozzino-Lyon (she/hers) works at UW-Green Bay as Restoration Scientist and Green Bay Restoration Project Coordinator. She collaborates with conservation partners to monitor and enhance coastal wetlands along the Green Bay west shore and shares wetland spaces with K-12 educators and students through outreach programming.


Erin Houghton, Co-Chair. NEW Water, ehoughton@newwater.us
Erin Houghton is the Watershed Programs Manager and has been with NEW Water since 2014. . Previously, Erin worked as a Research Specialist, assisting with various research projects on Lake Michigan, for the UW – Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences. Erin has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in Biology with concentration in Environmental Science and a Master of Science Degree from the University of Maine – Orono in Ecology and Environmental Sciences.
Whitney Prestby, Co-Chair. UW-Madison Division of Extension,

Whitney Prestby is an outreach specialist in northeastern Wisconsin working to support and promote conservation practices that reduce phosphorus and sediment loading into the Fox River and bay of Green Bay. In her role she works to create opportunities for people to learn from each other, so that together, we can develop lasting solutions that benefit our shared water resources. Whitney has a B.S. in Zoology from UW-Madison and a M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from UW – Green Bay.


Jeremy Freund. Outagamie County Land and Water Conservation,

Jeremy Freund, Deputy Director of the Outagamie County Land Conservation Department, is a professional environmental engineer with more than 20 years of experience in environmental engineering, project management, and grant implementation. His current work focuses on restoring water quality in the Lower Fox River and the Bay of Green Bay. He leads a team of conservation professionals to implement best management practices that improve water quality, reduce flooding, and restore landscapes, while collaborating with partners across Wisconsin and the Great Lakes region.
Angela Kowalzek. NEW Water, akowalzek@newwater.us
Angela Kowalzek works in the Watershed Management Department at NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, where she manages grants and contracts to support and promote conservation practices that improve water quality in the Fox River and bay of Green Bay. Angela has a M.S. degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.


Alaina Noll. Oneida Nation, anoll@oneidanation.org
Alaina joined the Green Bay Conservation Partners Steering Committee in January 2025 and is the Water Resources Specialist for the Oneida Nation. She brings an extensive background in water quality monitoring, wildlife surveys, and stream restoration while working alongside partners to restore local aquatic ecosystems.”

Jason Petrella graduated from UW-Stevens Point and is the Program and Natural Resource Manager for Brown County Parks. He started working for the Parks in 2006 at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve which he now manages in addition to the Reforestation Camp and Suamico Boat Launch.


Trina Soyk. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Trina_Soyk@fws.gov
Trina grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she developed an appreciation for Great Lakes ecosystems, attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to attain a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a Master’s Degree in Environmental Conservation. Trina currently (and for the last 10 years) works as a biologist for the US-Fish and Wildlife Service out of the Green Bay Field Office, serving as the Trustee Council Coordinator for the Fox River/Green Bay Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration (NRDAR). Through this position, she coordinates dozens of restoration projects in the Fox River/Green Bay area alongside conservation partners and Tribal Nations each year, and supports recovery efforts for endangered species such as monitoring and bird banding.
Kari Hagenow. The Nature Conservancy, khagenow@tnc.org
Kari Hagenow works throughout Northeastern Wisconsin on steward and conservation planning projects, with a focus on managing The Nature Conservancy’s natural areas on the Door Peninsula. Kari holds a double B.S. degree in Biology and Environmental Science and an M.S. degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.


Katie Woodrow. Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, katie@fwwa.org
Katie Woodrow is the Watershed Recovery Director at Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance and works with partners in a cooperative effort to improve the water quality in the Fox-Wolf basin. She also oversees Fox-Wolf’s reporting on key water quality metrics and progress toward TMDL goals.
